Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Nurse - Medical Oncology (APN) is a highly skilled professional with advanced training to provide specialized care in an oncology setting.

This role involves evaluating diagnoses, clinically monitoring and managing oncology, hematology, and genetics patients using advanced assessment skills and knowledge of clinical therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluating diagnoses and developing treatment plans for oncology, hematology, and genetics patients
  • Providing clinical care and counseling to individuals concerned about medical oncology and hematologic-related diseases
  • Collaborating with hematologists and oncologists to provide comprehensive care
  • Participating in chemotherapy teaching, bone marrow biopsies, and cancer surveillance
  • Developing and implementing educational programs for patients and healthcare professionals
Work Environment

The APN will work in a state-of-the-art cancer center with a team of experienced healthcare professionals.

The center offers a range of services, including IV chemotherapy, oral chemotherapy adherence programs, clinical trials, radiation therapy, cancer high-risk genetics, and survivorship.

Requirements
  • Licensed to provide Advanced Practice Nurse Services or Physician Assistant Services
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics
