Mental Health Specialist

About the Role:
Highland Rivers Behavioral Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our Outpatient Clinic team. As a Psychiatrist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals impacted by mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough physical and mental health assessments to gather relevant health history.
- Analyze factors affecting mental health and identify relationships between normal physiology and mental health problems.
- Collect and analyze data from multiple sources, using assessment techniques tailored to the individual's needs.
- Develop effective clinical interviewing skills to establish a therapeutic relationship.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory testing results.
- Develop treatment plans based on biopsychosocial theories, evidence-based standards, and practice guidelines.
- Prescribe medications and educate individuals on their use, effects, and potential side effects.
- Manage psychiatric emergencies by assessing risk and coordinating emergency care.
- Apply therapeutic communication strategies based on theories and research evidence.

Requirements:
- Current and valid board certification in psychiatry
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
- Current DEA registration
- Excellent knowledge of current DSM criteria
- Familiarity with crisis assessment tools and techniques
- Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Bilingual abilities a plus
