About the Role

The Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonary Rehabilitation position at Nuvance Health is responsible for facilitating the training of patients with pulmonary disease in an outpatient setting. This role is a key part of our team's efforts to provide high-quality patient care and improve health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead pulmonary rehab program education and exercise classes, either group or one-on-one, two times per week for six weeks
  • Oversee the alumni maintenance exercise program, offered three times per week
  • Provide airway clearance sessions on an as-needed basis, per physician order
  • Administer 6-Minute Walk Tests to assess patient progress
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain accurate records
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Department leadership

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in respiratory care or a related field
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
  • State of Connecticut license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • BLS certification for healthcare providers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Working Conditions

  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required
  • Some occupational risk and exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste
  • Medium to heavy physical effort, with potential to exert up to 35 pounds of force
