Pulmonary Rehabilitation Therapist Job Description

At Danbury Hospital, we are seeking a skilled Pulmonary Rehabilitation Therapist to join our team. As a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Therapist, you will play a vital role in facilitating the training of patients with pulmonary disease in an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide pulmonary rehab program education and exercise classes to patients, either in group or one-on-one settings, for a period of six weeks.
  • Oversee the alumni maintenance exercise program, which is offered three times a week.
  • Provide airway clearance sessions on a one-on-one basis, as ordered by physicians.
  • Perform six-minute walk tests to assess patient progress.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant databases and responsibilities related to this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Department leadership.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care.
  • Minimum of three years of job-related experience.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
  • State of Connecticut license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • BLS certification for healthcare providers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working Conditions:

This role requires manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. There is some occupational risk, and the physical effort is medium to heavy, with the potential to exert up to 35 pounds of force. The physical environment may involve exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
