Position Overview:
The Logistics Operations Manager is tasked with delivering strategic guidance and oversight to ensure that client needs are fulfilled effectively. This role involves the daily management of all operational activities associated with client accounts. The manager will assess carrier performance to maximize value provided to clients and swiftly address any operational challenges to prevent production delays or service disruptions, while maintaining clear communication with clients.

Work Schedule:
Generally first shift, with flexibility to adjust hours as required to meet client demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of parts management and/or load control center operations. This often necessitates daily evaluation of client transportation requirements. Responsible for monitoring carrier and supplier performance to ensure timely fulfillment of client demands. Formulate action plans to resolve issues impacting the supply chain network.
  • Pursue internal operational efficiencies through process and system enhancements. Aim to reduce cycle times and operational costs. Identify new business prospects and collaborate with sales teams to broaden service offerings. Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, corrective actions, and goal-setting for a team of both salaried and hourly staff. Provide career development, mentorship, and advancement opportunities to team members to cultivate future leaders. Establish and maintain staffing and development strategies, including succession planning.
  • Responsible for creating detailed project plans, defining timelines, milestones, objectives, and responsibilities. Intervene as necessary to resolve conflicts among project managers, operational teams, and clients. Collaborate closely with client leadership and project teams during the development of project scopes and analysis of options.
  • Comprehend the interplay between client, supplier, and vendor fleets and their impact on overall supply chain efficiency. Recommend necessary vendors and suppliers to implement logistics solutions. Build and maintain a strong relationship with the client's logistics manager to ensure operational stability. Manage client expectations regarding service performance and execution.
  • Review operational metrics and address any deviations from expected results. Communicate progress regularly with clients and internal stakeholders regarding key performance indicators and continuous improvement efforts. Conduct thorough reviews of account budgets for accuracy and address any discrepancies. Continuously assess account performance to ensure deliverables align with client needs at agreed rates.
  • Undertake additional projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in various supply chain service areas (transportation, warehousing, etc.) required.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with root cause analysis is preferred.
  • Ability to identify interim solutions or containment plans with broader network implications.
  • Strategic alignment of local operations with client expectations.
  • Ensure succession planning for key roles and effective staffing model deployment.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects with urgency while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with financial management (P&L experience preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, written, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficient understanding of operations and supporting technologies, particularly web-based applications.
  • Proven track record of fostering relationships with stakeholders or clients that lead to high satisfaction levels.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is a critical function of this role.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary and work the hours required to fulfill job responsibilities.
