Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Instructor to join our Drama/Theater Arts program at Guilford Technical Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching drama courses, developing curriculum, and providing a supportive learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach drama courses, including Theater History, Acting, Directing, Stagecraft, and Play Production
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the program's goals and objectives
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student success
  • Assess student learning outcomes and provide feedback to students
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program initiatives
Requirements
  • Masters degree or Master of Fine Arts degree in Drama/Theater Arts from a regionally accredited college or university
  • 3 years of teaching experience in drama, theater arts, or a related field of study or industry training experience
  • Experience in Stagecraft, Lighting Design and Operation, or Sound Design and Operation
  • Experience directing or coordinating theater productions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Drama or Theater Arts from a regionally accredited college or university
  • More than 3 years of teaching experience in drama, theater arts, or a related field of study or industry training experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing procedures and protocols
  • Respect for diversity and ability to create a learner-centered environment
  • Effective communication and technology skills
Training and Development
  • GTCC Trainings (upon initial hire) and annual updates as required
  • Other required trainings may be added as needed
