Drama Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced instructor to teach drama courses at Guilford Technical Community College. The successful candidate will have a master's degree or higher in drama or theater arts and a minimum of three years of teaching experience in the field.

• Teach drama courses, including theater history, acting, directing, stagecraft, and play production.
• Develop and implement learner-centered lesson plans that incorporate current technology and meet the needs of a diverse student population.
• Maintain a professional status that supports the instructional mission by participating in professional development activities and maintaining current credentials or licensures as required.
• Provide daily and ongoing oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records, including maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces, providing for the security of facilities and equipment, and maintaining student records in accordance with established deadlines.
• Provide an environment conducive to student success by addressing student concerns in a timely manner, promoting retention and persistence, and referring students to campus and community resources when appropriate.

• Master's degree or higher in drama or theater arts from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience in drama or a related field of study or industry training experience.
• Experience in stagecraft, lighting design and operation, or sound design and operation is preferred.
• Experience directing or coordinating theater productions is preferred.

• Doctoral degree in drama or theater arts from a regionally accredited college or university.
• More than three years of teaching experience in drama or a related field of study or industry training experience.

The successful candidate will be required to teach day and evening and/or weekend hours. A criminal history check with acceptable results is required.
