The City of Englewood is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Code Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing City Ordinances related to municipal codes, specifically for grass, weeds, and overgrowth. You will conduct inspections and investigate complaints, gathering evidence and issuing warnings and notices as necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct visual inspections in assigned areas of the City and investigate complaints reported by officials, City employees, or citizens.
- Assess and address customer and community needs and concerns.
- Prepare records and reports, including issuing Warnings and Notices of Violation for violations of the City's nuisance codes.
- Coordinate activities with other Code Enforcement Officers and the Code Enforcement Manager.
- Prepare and document violations for court cases, including photographing the scene of violation, preparing narrative reports, and testifying as a witness or complainant in court.
- High School Education or GED completed.
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience (high public contact).
- Code enforcement/animal welfare/law enforcement experience preferred.
Work is performed in the field and in a standard office environment. The employee is exposed to various weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold conditions, as well as unsanitary nuisance property conditions with excessive trash, litter, junk, sewage, animal waste, solvents, grease, oils, and body fluids.
CompensationThe hourly rate for this position is $33.47/hour.
