Job Summary

We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Emergency Department Technician to provide exceptional patient care in our newly renovated Emergency Department. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for participating in patient care interventions, performing approved dressings and wound care, and assisting with personal hygiene and ambulation. You'll also be responsible for preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures, collecting and delivering patient specimens, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in patient care interventions and personal care procedures for patients.
  • Perform approved dressings and wound care for NCA level patients.
  • Assist with personal hygiene, ambulation, bowel and bladder elimination, and Foley and Straight Catheters.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures.
  • Collect, deliver, and conduct routine tests on patient specimens.
  • Escort or transport patients who do not require hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Clean assigned area, stock and replenish supplies and equipment as required.
  • Maintain readiness of HAZMAT Room and provide assistance during hazmat decontamination procedures.
  • Perform EKG technician tasks, including routine and STAT EKGs, order verification, and electronic transmission of EKGs.
  • Perform Health Unit Coordinator tasks, including operating and troubleshooting office equipment, maintaining organization of the assigned desk, and managing lab specimens and orders.
  • Perform adult, isolated venipuncture for collection of routine blood specimens and blood cultures.
Requirements

We're looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in patient care and a passion for delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, current minimum listing as an NCA I with the Division of Facility Services, and BLS certification. One year of related healthcare experience as an NCA, ED Tech, EMT, or equivalent is preferred, with the ability to perform EKGs, Foley and Straight Catheters. The candidate should also have excellent prioritization skills, basic knowledge and skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment under stressful conditions.
