The Emergency Department Technician plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. As a member of the patient care team, you will assist registered nurses with delegated tasks, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients
- Observe patient conditions, recognize changes, and report findings to RNs
- Escort stable patients to other departments as required
- Clean, procure, and return equipment and supplies
- Assist with ordering and maintaining stock items
- Perform special procedures, such as venipuncture, splinting, and nonsterile dressing changes
- Set up for Emergency Department procedures and assist RNs as directed
- Operate patient monitoring equipment, record rhythm strips, and run 12-lead EKGs
- Perform phlebotomy, collect laboratory specimens, and insert saline locks under RN direction
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1-2 years of patient care experience in an acute care hospital or military medic setting, or Active EMT license in lieu of experience
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS required within six months of hire for Associates at Children's & Santa Rosa required
- EMT Basic or EMT Intermediate license preferred or required in lieu of experience
Full-time position with a TBD work schedule
