Role Summary
The Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to residents across various age groups in long-term care settings, under the guidance of a registered nurse or physician. This role requires a solid understanding of nursing principles applicable to the clinical environment, ensuring that care aligns with the specific needs outlined in the care plan.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Providing technical assistance to healthcare professionals.
- Documenting resident interactions and care outcomes accurately.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the community.
- Communicating clearly while upholding confidentiality standards.
- Counseling residents and their families on care and treatment options.
- Developing self-care programs based on resident education principles.
Qualifications
Applicants must be graduates of an accredited practical nursing program and hold a valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license. An associate degree in practical nursing is preferred. Candidates should have completed a nursing program that included supervised clinical experience or possess relevant experience in a similar role.
Additional requirements may include:
- Maintaining required competencies and certifications.
- Completing annual continuing education units (CEUs) as mandated.
