Avionics Embedded Controller Test Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the success of our lunar missions.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute verification plans for avionics embedded controllers, ensuring compliance with rigorous safety and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and integrate electrical/avionics integration hardware, software, and interconnect solutions.
  • Support testing at the integrated assembly level, simulating extreme environments to validate system performance.
  • Apply technical expertise to problem-solving throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to release to production.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation, including problem assessments, test data evaluation, and resolution reports.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define requirements, design reviews, and test plans, ensuring seamless integration with avionics subsystems.
  • Perform data interpretation, assessment, and analysis to drive continuous improvement and optimize system performance.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues, sharing knowledge and providing mentorship to facilitate professional growth.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, with direct hands-on experience developing and testing complex electronics.
  • Passion for hands-on problem-solving and avionics integration and test.
  • Ability to work independently on rapid development programs and travel to remote sites for extended periods.
  • Highly organized, safety and quality conscious, with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field.
  • Experience developing and testing complex electronic systems combining hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems with a focus on modular and extensible architectures.
  • Experience testing hardware to MIL-STD-461 or similar environmental standards.
  • Experience testing safety and mission-critical systems aligned with DO-254 or similar standards.
  • Proficiency with scripting, programming, and analysis/modeling tools, including Python, Linux/Windows shell scripting, assembly language, C, C++, MATLAB/Simulink/SPICE, and Altium/Cadence OrCAD/Allegro.

Blue Origin offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $136,800-$191,520 for on-site WA applicants. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program. Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays. Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
