Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Chaplain to join our team as a Spiritual Care Coordinator. The successful candidate will provide spiritual support and guidance to patients, families, and staff at Moffitt Cancer Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide spiritual assessments and counseling to patients, families, and staff.
  • Support patients' rights by considering psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural variables influencing perceptions of illness.
  • Triage requests for the priest and contact the priest in emergency situations; make referrals to the priest for non-emergencies.
  • Provide grief de-briefing and similar de-briefing for individuals and/or groups as appropriate; collaborate with Human Resources to provide support for staff in tragic situations involving staff and/or patients.
  • Enter daily statistics into the Pastoral Care Activity Accounting System(PCARS) and participate in Quality Improvement(QI) activities in the Department of Chaplaincy Care.
  • Assist patients, family members, and staff with Advance Care Planning and communicate patients' wishes to the interdisciplinary team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Theology (Divinity).
  • Ordination or equivalent from faith group.
  • Minimum four (4) units of CPE.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a setting such as, but not limited to, a hospital, hospice, long-term care facility; religious institution, or center of worship.
  • Evidence of understanding of diverse populations.
