Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer eager to spearhead projects and deliver technical expertise in a vibrant setting?

This role presents a unique chance to be part of a prominent organization in the Greater Birmingham area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all facets of electrical projects, encompassing repairs, preventive maintenance, and comprehensive project oversight.
  • Act as a technical liaison with suppliers, ensuring that equipment and facilities meet design specifications and product applications. Offer guidance to operational staff on electrical issues.
  • Guarantee that all electrical activities are executed safely and accurately, including collaboration with major power suppliers regarding electrical distribution and supply systems.
  • Oversee the electrical components of projects throughout their entire lifecycle, including planning, design, construction, and maintenance. Contribute to project estimates, timelines, and electrical schematics.
  • Work in partnership with internal and external engineers on electrical and automation systems, including defining equipment selection criteria. Provide internal consulting on automation systems to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness, and troubleshoot electrical challenges within the plant.
  • Evaluate internal resources and requirements to determine when to engage external contractors.
  • Guide and mentor regional electrical personnel on safe practices and best methods across all electrical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience. Additional education in business is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 8 years of electrical experience in sectors such as mining, heavy industry, utilities, or related fields. Experience in designing and managing projects with various power distribution systems (both overhead and underground) is preferred. Familiarity with PLCs, Soft Starts, VFDs, Power System Analysis Software (PTW, ETAP), motor control systems, and managing electrical contractors is beneficial.
  • Advanced skills in software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and AutoCAD. Knowledge of mining production techniques and equipment is preferred.
  • Strong comprehension and application of safety and environmental regulations (NEC, NESC, MSHA, and OSHA). Commitment to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures is crucial.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple projects efficiently. Strong relationship-building skills with all levels of staff, both internally and externally, are essential. A professional demeanor when representing the company to clients, suppliers, and colleagues is required.
