Job Title: Career Coach I Job Summary: The Career Coach I will provide academic major alignment with career exploration and work-based learning opportunities, advising students across the four Colleges of Bethune Cookman University. The Career Coach develops and implements programming to increase students' awareness of career education, explore career pathways, and create a strategic career plan and experiential learning opportunities. Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assess students' current skill set with various assessments that include interests, personality type, values, and motivations to determine ideal career choices.
  • Interpret individual assessment results with students utilizing computerized Career Guidance Systems such as Focus 2, O'Net, and others.
  • Provide direct career coaching to individuals and groups to help them make effective decisions regarding academic and professional goals.
  • Deliver targeted services to students: career assessment, coaching and advising, presenting workshops and seminars, conducting outreach, individualized service needs, presentations, managing programs, and development of student resources.
  • Establish a career plan with students/alumni, including setting goals and creating action plans to reach those goals.

  • Detail-oriented & analytical
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs and platforms
  • Experience with digital conferencing, and database management
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Master's degree in student personnel, higher education, counselor education, psychology, or other appropriate area from an accredited institution and one year of related experience.
  • Experience with career services (can include graduate student experience or other relevant professional experience).
  • Experience developing career programs and demonstrated aptitude for organizing programs, including marketing, planning, and implementation.
  • Experience using technology in career coaching (assessment tools, academic and career information, job search assistance), social media, presentation development, data management, and reporting.
  • Skills or aptitude for developing and maintaining relationships - strong team member skills.
  • Ability to work equally well independently and with teams.
Physical Requirements: Requires some physical effort, i.e., standing and walking, frequent light lifting (5-25 lbs.); manual dexterity in the operation of office equipment; extensive periods of time at a keyboard; occasional hours outside the normal University schedule.
