Prevention Specialist Job Description

At Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare, we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our prevention services team, you will play a vital role in promoting healthy behaviors and preventing substance abuse among youth and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accept referrals and complete screenings, intakes, and follow-ups in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community agencies to promote services and support.
  • Link identified youth and families to community-based services and complete required documentation.
  • Develop and implement referral tracking systems to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Design and facilitate evidence-based prevention groups, such as anger management and social skills training.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to develop and implement substance abuse education programs.
  • Provide case management services, intervention, and prevention services as needed.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and preferences.
  • Document all activities and submit progress notes and logs within 24 hours.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources and substance abuse treatment.
