POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Executive Director and direct oversight from the Education Manager, this role is pivotal in facilitating the execution of the Education and Early Childhood Development initiatives for children aged birth to 5 years. The position involves coordinating and providing expert advice in the areas of Literacy and Transition.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate as a key member of the Administrative Office Management Team and the Early Childhood Management Team, contributing to the overall planning and coordination of early childhood programs.
- Engage actively in School Readiness Team Meetings.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while collaborating with staff, parents, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with CAPCA Policies and Procedures, Office of Head Start Performance Standards, state licensing regulations, and other relevant guidelines regarding children's records and documentation.
- Achieve CLASS Reliability certification within the first year of employment and conduct CLASS Observations for each preschool classroom annually, providing constructive feedback and setting professional development objectives for educators.
- Guide classroom staff in the creation and utilization of learning centers and in the procurement of educational materials and equipment.
- Oversee the review of lesson plans and provide constructive feedback to center managers.
- Assist in the recruitment process and make recommendations for educational staff positions.
- Act as a mentor and support figure for staff within educational centers.
- Assist classrooms in optimizing their arrangements and environments.
- Demonstrate and exemplify Head Start classroom methodologies.
- Participate in staffing and IEP meetings as required.
- Contribute to staff and team training sessions, offering insights regarding educators, children, and programming.
- Support the documentation of In-Kind contributions for parent and community initiatives.
- Contribute to the annual Self-Assessment Team activities.
- Design and deliver training programs for large groups using various electronic media, including PowerPoint and Smart Board.
- Manage data related to the Education content area in MYHS and PIR.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and compliance in the overall management of the Agency.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of the Head Start Program.
- Participate in professional development training as required.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage stress and interactions with children and adults effectively.
- Be prepared to administer first aid as necessary.
- Perform other job-related tasks as needed for the effective operation of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- CLASS reliability certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire and maintained annually thereafter.
- Experience: A minimum of two years in Head Start or a comparable child development program.
- Proficiency in computer applications is required.
- Physical Requirements: Must pass tuberculosis screening annually and complete an initial health examination within 90 days of employment.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with liability insurance for agency-related travel is necessary.
- Ability to travel overnight for training or site visits.
- Effective communication skills with children and adults are essential.
- Specific vision capabilities are required, including close, distance, and peripheral vision.
- Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds may be required.
- Skills: Proficient in reading, writing, and performing mathematical calculations.
- Personal Attributes: Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to motivate and organize groups. Must align with the principles of the Head Start program and maintain confidentiality.
COMPENSATION: The annual salary for this position is $35,880, budgeted for approximately 12 months per year. This is a full-time, non-exempt role with a standard schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including a one-hour lunch break and the potential for some remote work options.
