Unit Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Unit Manager to join our team at Woodwind Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Llc. As a Unit Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring that high-quality care is provided to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage nursing staff to ensure quality care is provided to residents.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities, including audits of medical orders and development of plans of correction.
  • Ensure that the nursing department is adequately staffed to provide quality care to residents.
  • Recruit and select nursing service personnel based on facility needs.
  • Participate in orientation sessions for nursing service personnel and evaluate their performance.
  • Assist in ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors.
  • Investigate nursing department employee accidents and monitor resident incidents to identify possible compliance issues.
Requirements:
  • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State.
  • 3 years of experience in a Supervisor role in healthcare, with Long-Term Care experience preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing facility administration.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc., to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies.
