Role Summary
Randolph College is in search of a dedicated and service-oriented professional to become a vital member of the Business Office team. The Financial Accountant will oversee various accounting operations, including but not limited to monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and balance sheets, general ledger entry preparation, and gift recording and reconciliation. This role also involves supporting the annual audit and the preparation of financial statements. The Accountant will utilize generally accepted accounting principles to manage specialized accounting records and reports, ensuring accurate assembly and analysis of data for reporting purposes.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage accounting tasks for the Campus Store, which includes:
- Recording deposits
- Reconciliation of statements
- Adjusting inventory
- Reporting sales and use tax
- Oversee the review and filing of sales and use tax submissions.
- Handle accounting and recordkeeping for the federal Perkins Loan program, which involves:
- Acting as a liaison between Financial Aid and the Business Office to ensure seamless communication
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual financial aid Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP)
- Reconciling balances with third-party loan servicers
- Preparing journal entries for loan accounts
- Reconciling the Perkins Loan cash account
- Enter Development gift batches weekly, including:
- Quarterly Gift Reconciliation
- Quarterly Stock Gain/Loss
- Quarterly Pledges Receivables
- Serve as the primary backup for Accounts Payable functions, which includes:
- Checking accounts payable batches and transactions for accuracy
- Auditing travel advances and expenses
- Journalizing mortgage payments and annual reporting
- Conducting various bank reconciliations
- Reconciling prepaid expenses
- Journalizing monthly chargebacks and credit card activities
- Conducting camp reconciliations
- Preparing monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts
- Facilitating the preparation of the annual internal audit for the Alumnae/i Association
- Assisting in the annual audit and financial statement preparation
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Controller
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- Two to three years of relevant work experience
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Experience with computer-based accounting systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is advantageous
Office setting with occasional lifting of up to 10-15 lbs. and the need to walk or bend during job functions.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel may be necessary for training or conferences.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be authorized to work in the United States. Pre-employment criminal and credit background checks are required.
