Job Overview

Position Title: Banquet Captain

Classification: Non-Exempt

Role Summary

The Dallas Country Club is in search of skilled candidates for the Banquet Captain role, aimed at assisting the Assistant Banquet Manager in delivering exceptional service to our members, guests, and event planners. The ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding verbal communication abilities, leadership qualities, and a collaborative spirit. This individual should be proactive, well-organized, and consistently visible to both staff and guests. A strong sense of resourcefulness and the ability to anticipate and address member and guest needs is essential. Responsibilities include overseeing banquet staff during events, managing bar inventories, and ensuring the completion of daily operational tasks.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate closely with the Assistant Banquet Manager and team.
  • Coordinate with the Banquet Chef for event preparations.
  • Organize room setups in accordance with the Banquet Event Order and member specifications.
  • Inspect all banquet areas prior to guest arrival to ensure proper setup.
  • Maintain cleanliness in pre-function areas, both inside and outside.
  • Understand and execute the Banquet Event Order effectively.
  • Ensure all meeting rooms are arranged according to the BEO and are kept tidy.
  • Provide a daily summary of event details to the Director of Food & Beverage and the Food and Beverage team.
  • Guarantee timely arrival of all staff in appropriate attire reflecting the event theme.
  • Plan, assign, and deliver exceptional service for all banquet functions.
  • Manage beverage requisitions for bars efficiently.
  • Ensure that the entire banquet service team is well-informed about event specifics (BEO).
  • Communicate effectively with Event Management, Members, Guests, Banquet Chef, and Front of House Management/Supervisor team regarding all banquet requirements.
  • Fill in for dining room MOD shifts during quieter periods.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory banquet role in a high-volume environment, preferably within a club or hotel.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in hospitality or a related field is preferred.
  • TABC certification is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with ala carte and fine dining service is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Professional appearance and grooming are required.
  • Exhibit an approachable and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Foster a work environment characterized by trust and inclusivity.
  • Capable of assessing the unique needs of each function.
  • Strong delegation capabilities.
  • Adhere to proper associate uniform standards.
  • General knowledge of audiovisual equipment is beneficial.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible workplace.
