Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Animal Care Technician to join our team at Actalent. As an Animal Care Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our care, while also maintaining a safe and clean environment for our research staff.
Key Responsibilities- Operate animal care processing equipment according to safety guidelines and detect any malfunctioning or defective equipment.
- Transport dirty caging to the washing center for proper cage wash processing and reassemble clean cages with measured amounts of animal food and bedding.
- Provide clean supplies and equipment to research faculty and staff using animal facilities.
- Perform cleaning and disinfecting of assigned areas throughout the animal research facilities.
- May receive and put away supplies in appropriate areas and assist with moving equipment between facilities.
- May assist in training and/or instructing staff on sanitation tasks and maintain accurate departmental support area record keeping.
- One year of related work experience and a high school level education; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Ability to follow Standing Operating Procedure and recognize signs of well-being, illness, and abnormalities.
- Ability to understand and use short notes, basic written instructions, and forms; ability to understand complex and detailed protocols.
- General knowledge of computer use and ability to monitor email.
- Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certified by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and push or pull up to 300 pounds.
