Job Title: Patient Care Tech

Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals at Texas Health Plano, a four-time Magnet-designated hospital and Level II Trauma Facility. We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Tech to provide exceptional patient care and support in our fast-paced Medical Surgical Unit.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Care Tech to join our team. As a Patient Care Tech, you will provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and moving patients. You will also assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and provide patient activities of daily living based on patient preferences.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance to patients according to plan of care
  • Collect patient data, identify and report significant findings to nurse
  • Assist in admission/transfer/discharge
  • Provide and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences
  • Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently
  • Take action to reduce or eliminate patient risk
  • Enter orders into computer or manual system if applicable
  • Document accurately and appropriately
  • In collaboration/consultation with nurse, adapt care to reflect patient population
  • In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporate cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care
  • Keep patient environment clean and maintain safe environment
  • Anticipate patient/family and visitor needs and take action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • CNA/PCT experience preferred
  • TX CNA or PCT Training Program through NHA, NAHP and NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program required upon hire
  • EMT – Emergency Medical Technician - Military experience with medic/medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) required upon hire
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program required upon hire
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification required upon hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required prior to providing independent patient care and must be maintained quarterly
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills
