POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of a Personal Banker at Provident Bank involves cultivating relationships with clients to understand and address their financial requirements, ensuring a positive experience during every interaction at the branch.

This position encompasses a blend of transactional and sales responsibilities, with daily tasks varying according to branch needs. Key duties include processing various financial transactions, such as account openings, cross-selling services, and conducting needs assessments to enhance customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Personal Banker will resolve account inquiries and promote organizational products by connecting clients with relevant departments.

Meeting sales goals related to deposits, loans, and overall revenue is essential, along with managing cash drawers and assisting the Assistant Branch Manager with daily operations and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales targets through a thorough understanding of product features and benefits to meet customer needs.
  • Promote bank offerings and address customer inquiries regarding accounts and services.
  • Refer clients to appropriate personnel for commercial products and services.
  • Foster strong customer relationships through dedicated service and engagement.
  • Contribute to the Bank's Corporate Sales Program by assessing customer needs and expanding business relationships.

Service Responsibilities:

  • Identify customer opportunities through effective lobby management.
  • Assist clients with digital banking technologies and refer them to other business lines as needed.
  • Maintain operational efficiency while ensuring high-quality customer service.
  • Execute responsibilities that enhance the overall customer experience.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with bank policies and regulations for operational safety.
  • Utilize lobby management to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Verify customer identities and adhere to compliance protocols.
  • Support branch management with operational tasks as required.
  • Process transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  • Complete necessary reports for financial transactions.
  • Assist in training new branch staff.
  • Provide customer support during high call volumes.
  • Facilitate access to safe deposit boxes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a customer-facing retail environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work according to business needs.
  • Professional demeanor with customers and colleagues.
  • Proficient in math and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of safety and security practices.
  • Ability to build strong relationships through consultative conversations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Must register as a mortgage loan originator with the NMLS prior to processing mortgage applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in retail banking.
  • Life and Health Licenses to support investment programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily conducted in a retail banking environment, with occasional travel to other branches. The role may require overtime and adaptability to new locations.

  • Ability to lift between 5 to 25 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional bending or stooping.

The work environment is generally moderate in noise levels, with potential travel to client locations.
