GENERAL OVERVIEW $17.62-$20.02 PER HOUR

The role of the Culinary Operations Assistant Manager is to support the Kitchen Manager in ensuring that the Harmons Kitchen department upholds high standards of quality and profitability. This individual will be knowledgeable about all facets of the full-service kitchen, assist in training new team members, and deliver outstanding customer service. Additionally, this role involves determining production and inventory requirements for Harmons Kitchen.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres to established departmental and store policies and procedures.
  • Guarantees the quality and freshness of all products and services offered by Harmons Kitchen.
  • Responsible for maintaining optimal product assortment and inventory levels for the kitchen.
  • Verifies pricing accuracy and signage for all products, with special attention to promotional items.
  • Ensures the kitchen is cleaned and sanitized daily, meeting company standards for appearance.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons.
  • Orders products and creates production sheets to align with the needs of Harmons Kitchen based on historical and projected sales.
  • Actively participates in the Safety Committee to ensure the safety of both customers and associates.
  • Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Sets a professional and positive example for others.
  • Maintains open and frequent communication with the Store Director and Director of Deli/Kitchen Operations.
  • Ensures adherence to company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity.
  • Mentors and educates associates to foster their success as team members.
  • Provides honest, direct, and ongoing feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas for improvement; assesses associate performance and influences promotion, discipline, etc.
  • Creates the kitchen schedule to ensure adequate coverage and meet labor goals.
  • Conducts quarterly inventory of all kitchen products.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Engages in consistent and daily interaction with store associates and customers.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this position, an individual must successfully perform each essential duty. The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for this role:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred; some college education is advantageous; two years of experience in a delicatessen or kitchen setting is preferred, or any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Current Food Handlers Permit.
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally and appropriately.
  • A passion for working with and handling kitchen products.
  • Strong interest in preparing, cooking, and enjoying food, particularly kitchen items.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and listening abilities, to effectively manage diverse groups of people.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and be accountable for personal and team success.
  • Required to make logical, significant decisions using recognized analytical skills and techniques.

This role also requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the workday, as well as the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
