Job Summary

The OR First Assistant will work closely with our surgical team to prepare patients for surgery, assist surgeons during procedures, and ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are available. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, passing instruments and maintaining a safe and organized operating room environment.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including obtaining medical histories, conducting physical assessments, and administering medications as needed.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless transitions of care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including documentation of treatments, medications, and test results.
Requirements:
  • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) certification.
  • Associate degree in nursing or higher.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • 1+ year of experience as an OR First Assistant or scrub nurse.
