We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer, Capital Projects to join our team at Genentech. As a key member of our Design and Construction organization, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in mechanical engineering design for capital projects.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and accountability for mechanical engineering designs on capital projects and engineering services performed at the South San Francisco site and other sites where SSF Design & Construction has active projects.
- Engage actively in the design and planning of upgrades to critical mechanical infrastructure and facility electrical systems across a portfolio of 50+ buildings / ~6M square feet of space.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, design vendors, and Alliance Partners, to ensure that project designs meet business needs and site requirements.
- Develop and maintain site-specific mechanical design standards, aligned with Roche/Genentech corporate standards, to ensure consistency and quality in mechanical engineering design.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to design teams, ensuring that project scope is balanced with cost, quality, and functionality to meet business needs.
- Monitor projects during execution for adherence to intended design and ensure that commissioning and hand-over of projects meet expectations.
- Lead a mechanical engineering design sub-team, including representatives from Alliance Partner engineering firms, Site Operations, SHE, and others, to develop strategies for upgrading deficient areas of the campus through the project portfolio.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 15 years or more pharmaceutical technology experience in industry or academia after receiving their Bachelor's Degree. At least 8 years must include direct involvement in mechanical system design, construction, and/or commissioning.
- Working knowledge of mechanical codes and mechanical design standards, including ANSI/ASHRAE, NEMA, NFPA, EPA, and OSHA standards, as well as relevant chemical industry-specific standards and documentation.
- Experience with energy use reduction projects, pharmaceutical GMP project design, LEED/WELL/Fitwel certification, project management, LEAN/Six Sigma certification, and/or experience working in a campus environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, interpersonal, collaborative, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills, as well as a good working knowledge of project design and construction.
Genentech offers a competitive salary range of $139,000 - $258,100 USD Annual, based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
