Family Recovery Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Family Recovery Specialist delivers essential support services to families, whether in an office environment, educational institution, or other designated locations tailored to meet the specific requirements of the families served.
Newly appointed specialists may begin their roles prior to acquiring the necessary licensure to operate as mental health professionals (e.g., psychology, social work, LMFT, LPC, LADC). These specialists will receive guidance from a licensed professional and may have access to training opportunities.Upon meeting eligibility criteria, all newly appointed specialists are anticipated to secure licensure to be considered for continued employment at The Youth Counselor.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Direct services may encompass, but are not limited to: Conducting thorough clinical evaluations and engagement
Determining DSM V Diagnosis in collaboration with Supervisor and Medical Director or designated Psychiatrist, as required
Creating treatment plans and service contracts
Executing treatment plans, adjusting them as necessary throughout the treatment process
Planning for discharge, which may involve connections to community support services
Providing case management services
Completing clinical documentation as mandated by agency and program policies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources
Meeting productivity targets established by service
Engaging in Peer Consultation and Quality Assurance Reviews.
Encouraging collaboration with other clinical and administrative personnel to address client and programmatic needs, including the execution of agency policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Collaborating with other program or clinical staff to identify and develop strategies to meet clients' unmet needs or service gaps.
Acquiring and maintaining the necessary skills in evidence-based models that the agency/program adheres to.Working with Supervisor to identify and formulate plans for professional development.
Contributing to program operations by taking on responsibilities for special tasks or leadership in unique projects as appropriate.
Enhancing agency organizational life by participating in agency-wide task forces, committees, or problem-solving teams as suitable.
Boosting agency visibility and fostering community connections by representing The Youth Counselor in community groups or committees.
QUALIFICATIONS
MSW or equivalent required with a minimum of 3 years' postgraduate clinical experience preferred
Clinical degree in social work, psychology, or other licensed-eligible counseling degree
LMSW or equivalent required and licensed eligible
EXPERIENCE
Must demonstrate the ability to function independently while seeking guidance when necessary
Strong diagnostic, assessment, and treatment skills for individual, family, and group therapy
Extensive experience working with culturally diverse urban populations, a wide age range, and a variety of clinical presentations; Cultural competency to serve a diverse population
Knowledge of mental health, child welfare systems, and community resources
Ability to compose professional/clinical reports and correspondence
Ability to communicate effectively before groups of clients or employees of the organization
Familiarity with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV)
Good knowledge of various therapeutic interventions and models emphasizing empirically validated approaches
Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in an efficient manner
Ability to relate positively to children and families
Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families
Strong organizational and communication skills
