Job Summary

The University of Kansas Health System seeks a skilled Cardiac Rhythm Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms via telemetry monitoring for patients throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with telemetry monitoring of patients as requested by various departments within the hospital.
  • Perform lead placement, change batteries, and assign equipment to patients as needed.
  • Ensure cardiac rhythm equipment and software are programmed with accurate patient and staff assignment information.
  • Communicate changes in patient cardiac rhythm status to appropriate staff within designated timeframes.
  • Complete cardiac rhythm interpretations for assigned patients.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment and restock supplies.
  • Meet the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Ability to pass telemetry examination within 90 days

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare tech experience, such as nursing or medical student, EMT, paramedic, MA, or CNA
  • Certified Nurse Aide/Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Licensed Paramedic

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift over 10 pounds and walk distances
