Job Summary

The Cardiac Rhythm Specialist performs surveillance and interpretation of cardiac rhythms via telemetry monitoring for patients throughout the hospital on telemetry capable units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with telemetry monitoring of patients as requested by various departments within the hospital.
  • Perform lead placement, change batteries, and assign equipment to patients.
  • Ensure cardiac rhythm equipment and software are programmed with the appropriate patient and staff assignment information.
  • Communicate changes in patient's cardiac rhythm status to appropriate staff within identified time lines.
  • Complete cardiac rhythm interpretations on assigned patients.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment and restock supplies.
  • Meet the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Graduate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare tech experience such as Nursing or Medical Student, EMT, Paramedic, MA, CNA.

Required Certifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pass telemetry exam within 90 days.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Nurse Aide / Assistant (CNA) - State Department for Aging and Disability Services (Health Occupations Credentialing) OR
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) OR
  • Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - State Board of Emergency Medical Services OR
  • Licensed Paramedic - State Board of Emergency Medical Services OR
  • Enrolled in Medical or Nursing school.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift greater than 10 pounds and walk distances.

Work Schedule

Part-time.
