About the Position

As a member of the Community Renewal Team (CRT), you will be part of a dedicated workforce with an average tenure of 9 years. Many of our staff members have celebrated over 20 years of service. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

JOB TITLE: Food Service Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Retreat

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY: $17.00

REPORTS TO: Food Service Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following tasks are essential functions representative of this role. This list is not exhaustive and does not preclude management from assigning additional duties as necessary.

  • Set and clear dining tables and organize furniture as required.
  • Prepare and serve select menu items (e.g., desserts, salads, beverages) to patrons in a supportive manner, ensuring food service dispensers are adequately stocked.
  • Assist patrons as needed to ensure their safety during meals, including helping with mobility and removing potential hazards.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Wash dishes and operate the dishwasher, ensuring proper sanitation.
  • Perform floor maintenance, including sweeping and mopping, to uphold cleanliness standards.
  • Clean dining surfaces and areas as assigned, ensuring a hygienic environment.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare tables for subsequent diners.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain confidentiality of all member information while assisting colleagues and visitors respectfully.
  • Ensure a pleasant dining atmosphere for patrons, addressing them with courtesy and maintaining order.
  • Keep equipment in optimal condition for use by colleagues.
  • Utilize chemicals safely in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Recognize and report any changes in members' behavior or condition to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Understand and follow cleaning schedules and quality assurance protocols.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations as per established policies.
  • Follow infection control guidelines and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: Minimum of one year in a healthcare food service role or two years in a commercial or hospitality food service environment preferred.

Certification: Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate (e.g., Serve Safe).

Skills: Excellent communication skills, particularly with individuals experiencing psychiatric conditions. Strong customer service abilities are essential.

Knowledge: Understanding of food service practices that accommodate the needs of individuals with varying physical and psychological limitations.

Bilingual: Preferred – Spanish language skills are a plus.
