Position Overview: Medical Oncologist in Gynecologic Oncology
Moffitt Cancer Center is in search of a Medical Oncologist at the Assistant, Associate, or Senior level to enhance the Department of Gynecologic Oncology.
Our GYNONC program embodies a comprehensive academic practice, focusing on research, education, and clinical care. As part of the only NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state, we engage in translational research and all phases of clinical trials. This includes pioneering studies, such as a first-in-human CART study for recurrent ovarian cancer and a frontline DOD ovarian cancer treatment study aimed at evaluating immune environment biomarkers. We also conduct a wide array of studies across all GYNONC disease sites, including cell therapies and innovative therapeutics. Our participation in the Gynecologic Oncology Group further strengthens our research capabilities.
This role involves engaging in clinical or translational research alongside the provision of clinical services. Candidates will have the opportunity to demonstrate innovative activities, including the discovery of new knowledge and the development of advanced educational techniques. Protected time is available for those who show the potential to conduct clinical or translational research.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Department Chair. Our culture promotes collaborative research among clinicians, basic scientists, and population scientists. The position encompasses all facets of patient care, including assessment, management, and treatment of patients. We adopt an interdisciplinary approach to optimize patient care delivery, which includes participation in tumor boards, molecular genetics conferences, and various educational initiatives.
Qualified candidates must possess a medical degree or its foreign equivalent, complete residency training in Internal Medicine, and fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology. Board eligibility or certification in Hematology/Oncology is required, along with a Florida medical license or the ability to obtain one, and qualifications to secure hospital privileges.
The candidate will practice medicine, hematology, and medical oncology within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center. This position provides patient care under the auspices of Moffitt Medical Group and contributes to the academic medical enterprise, advancing the institutional mission of cancer prevention and cure. The role may encompass both clinical and research responsibilities, supporting patient care, research, and education. The successful candidate will oversee Advance Practice Professionals and academic trainees.
This position involves academic ambulatory practice at Moffitt's main and local satellite facilities, as well as inpatient consulting services at Moffitt, with flexibility to consult at other locations as needed.
Faculty members at Moffitt Cancer Center are eligible for academic appointments at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, with academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
