Position SummaryThe Outcomes Manager embodies the core values and mission of Northwestern Medicine, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
The primary responsibility of the Outcomes Manager (OM) is to support the patient care team in delivering optimal quality and outcomes for patients in a cost-efficient manner. The OM collaborates with healthcare professionals throughout the care continuum and possesses a comprehensive understanding of the demographics relevant to the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU). This role involves developing strategies to enhance the equity, effectiveness, and efficiency of resource allocation for the patient population.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Oversight:- Manage and oversee existing and newly established cardiovascular clinical programs, including the development of business cases for educational initiatives and processes related to these programs.
- Collaborate closely with CTICU Operations Managers, Education Coordinators, Quality Coordinators, and medical directors to ensure comprehensive management of clinical staff and educational needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, guiding clinicians on standards of care and available resources.
- Coordinate research initiatives and onboarding processes for newly hired nursing and ancillary staff.
- Identify and pursue business opportunities that enhance patient experience and organizational reputation.
- Analyze potential clinical initiatives to assess risks, resource needs, and financial benefits.
- Encourage continuous professional development and support staff transitions along the Clinical Career path.
- Promote a culture of clinical inquiry and guide staff in research and evidence-based practice.
- Lead innovative initiatives aimed at achieving departmental recognitions and awards.
- Identify practice gaps through assessments and observations, implementing strategies for improvement.
- Develop and manage internal measurement systems to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical initiatives.
- Collaborate with various departments to enhance quality improvement processes.
- Utilize dashboards to monitor patient outcome measures and collaborate with clinical areas to plan and evaluate interventions.
- Foster interprofessional collaboration in patient care and maintain a supportive work environment.
- Partner with quality coaches to implement quality initiatives in alignment with regulatory standards.
- Recognize and celebrate staff contributions and improvements.
- Master's degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse License in Illinois.
- Specialty certification recognized by Magnet.
- 2-5 years of experience in patient population studies and collaboration with care providers.
- BLS Certification.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Previous leadership experience.
- CNS or CNL Certification.
- Experience in CTICU.
