UnitedHealth Group is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Accounting Interns. As an Accounting Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a rapidly evolving and challenging marketplace of ideas, products, and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month-end close.
- Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles.
- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.
- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position.
- Assist with the month quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting from an accredited college/university during the duration of the internship.
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
- Current junior (grad date May 2026).
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and leadership potential.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated presentation skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
The hourly range for this role is $18.00 to $32.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
