Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing services team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for structuring, planning, and implementing our nursing services program to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for nursing services that comply with contractual requirements, Department of Corrections, and national standards.
  • Coordinate and monitor orientation, in-services, and continuing education for nursing staff.
  • Conduct recruitment and retention efforts for the nursing services team.
  • Participate in the development and administration of a budget for nursing services.
  • Chair the Infection Control Committee and develop procedures, audits, and nursing in-services.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Health Care Unit Administrator.
  • Conduct regular meetings with nursing staff and act as administrator on call for nursing emergencies or staff needs.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules for nursing services and make changes as necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the philosophy, goals, and objectives of nursing services.
  • Ensure the practice of nursing is consistent with current standards and is responsible for the level of care.
  • Represent nursing services and coordinate patient care with other departments.
  • Provide guidance to nursing staff in patient care problems and delegate responsibility within the scope of employees' abilities.
  • Remain visible and responsive to all medical disciplines and support and participate in evaluations to improve work conditions and patient care.
Requirements
  • Current State Registered Nursing License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Graduate of nursing school required; BSN preferred
  • 3 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership nursing role preferred; 2 years of administrative and/or correctional nursing experience can be substituted for BSN
