Position Overview

FULL-TIME REGULATORY COMPLIANCE OFFICER - AFFORDABLE HOUSING

CRM Rental Management, Inc. is in search of a qualified Full-Time Regulatory Compliance Officer specializing in affordable housing. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Tax Credit, COS, and LIHTC certifications, along with a solid understanding of Section 8 Housing regulations. This role necessitates travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and process assigned move-ins, initial certifications, annual re-certifications, and interim certifications in alignment with established protocols.
  • Continuously monitor the Recertification schedule to ensure timely processing and maintain regular communication with the Director of Compliance regarding recertification updates.
  • Collaborate with Office Managers to prepare certification notifications, conduct interviews, verify household information, and finalize Tenant Income Certifications.
  • Assist Office Managers in the development of all compliance-related documentation as directed by the Director of Compliance.
  • Conduct compliance file audits as needed and collaborate with fellow Compliance Specialists.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as comply with Fair Housing regulations, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other relevant housing laws.
  • Stay informed on the latest IRS regulations affecting tax credit properties.
  • Remain updated on changes to Section 8, Rural Development Home Funds, fair housing standards, compliance, and other relevant housing programs.
  • Perform additional duties, assignments, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of TCS and COS certifications (or BOS certification), STAR/RD certification, or equivalent experience, with the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
  • HOME and HTF certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in various HUD program compliance, Tax Credit, and Rural Development.
  • Experience in a supervisory role with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a confident and positive demeanor.
  • Ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals and manage resident issues diplomatically.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including all Microsoft Office applications and Property Management Software.
  • Willingness to work 40 hours per week, including weekends for staffing needs and emergencies.
  • Openness to local travel for corporate training sessions.
