The Manager of Industrial Engineering for Business Unit plays a pivotal role in articulating Industrial Engineering (IE) requirements related to tooling, equipment, and materials. This position leverages expertise to address challenges, formulate and implement objectives for the IE team, and align IE with launch targets to achieve both immediate and long-term business unit ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and provide technical guidance for designated organizational responsibilities, initiatives, and team members.
  2. Offer strategic advice and insights to senior management and operational teams.
  3. Foster technical excellence within the department and support functions through participation in design reviews, sharing lessons learned, and driving innovation.
  4. Establish, adjust, and oversee comprehensive engineering program requirements, timelines, and resources for Industrial Engineering and support teams to meet or surpass business unit objectives.
  5. Collaborate with Plant Management and local Engineering teams to understand equipment and facility capacities and capabilities.
  6. Effectively communicate both technical and financial aspects of departmental activities across all levels of the organization.
  7. Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority over engineers to plan, organize, control, integrate, execute, and complete engineering projects within the assigned area, including skill transfer to local teams.
  8. Ensure product and process designs comply with engineering principles, organizational standards, customer contract stipulations, and relevant specifications.
  9. Monitor and review the progress and status of each team member's work.
  10. Proactively identify potential issues and develop remediation strategies before project impacts occur.
  11. Address urgent matters requiring immediate action and focus.
  12. Coordinate activities related to technical advancements, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and testing challenges.
  13. Oversee the integration of technical activities and deliverables.
  14. Evaluate and authorize design modifications, specifications, and drawing releases.
  15. Manage expenditures within the confines of the project budget.
  16. Prepare interim and final project reports.
  17. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement.
  18. Facilitate team and project meetings.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  2. Five to ten years of experience in manufacturing, preferably within the automotive interior trim and systems sector.
  3. Familiarity with equipment and processes such as Robotics, Water Jets, Molding (Hot & Cold), and Injection Molding using industry-standard equipment.
  4. Understanding of equipment design, continuous improvement methodologies, and Design FMEA.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Proficient in project management software including MS Project, Excel, and Word.
  7. Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Catia, and Spinfire.
  8. Exceptional organizational abilities.
  9. Capability to lead team members effectively.
  10. Aptitude for multitasking.
  11. Strong research skills.
