POSITION OVERVIEW


Under the supervision of a registered nurse or advanced practice registered nurse, or as directed by a physician assistant, physician, dentist, or podiatric physician, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will perform various duties requiring the skill set for which they are trained.

Educational and Experience Requirements:
Completion of a state-approved training program (typically a diploma, certificate, or associate degree)

Valid LPN license (successful completion of the NCLEX-PN exam)

BLS certification; 1-2 years of recent nursing experience preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct focused nursing assessments and contribute to the ongoing comprehensive nursing evaluation of patients conducted by the RN.

Collaborate in the creation and adjustment of the RN's comprehensive nursing care plan for diverse patient types.

Implement components of the care plan.

Engage in health education and counseling to promote, achieve, and sustain optimal patient health levels.

Act as a patient advocate by communicating and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

Participate in evaluating patient responses to interventions.

Communicate and collaborate with other healthcare providers.

Plan and manage patient care tailored to individual needs.

Interview patients and document their medical history and physical condition.

Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.

Provide routine patient care.

Monitor patients' health status.

Review medical records.

Assist physicians and registered nurses.

Communicate with patients and their families.

Perform standard diagnostic procedures, including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and Doppler.

Administer medications (excluding IV medications).

Provide wound care.

Prepare and administer enemas.

Assist with patient comfort.

Monitor catheters.
