POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of a registered professional nurse or an advanced practice registered nurse, and as directed by healthcare providers, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will engage in various essential nursing activities for which they are trained.

Education and Experience Requirements for LPN:
  • Completion of an accredited training program (diploma, certificate, or associate degree)
  • Valid LPN license (successful completion of NCLEX-PN exam)
  • BLS certification; 1-2 years of recent nursing experience preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct focused nursing assessments and contribute to the comprehensive nursing evaluations led by the RN.
  • Collaborate in the formulation and adjustment of the RN's comprehensive nursing care plan for diverse patient populations.
  • Implement components of the care plan effectively.
  • Engage in health education and counseling to support patients in achieving and maintaining optimal health.
  • Act as a patient advocate by facilitating communication and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in evaluating patient responses to various interventions.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the healthcare team.
  • Plan and manage patient care tailored to individual needs.
  • Interview patients and document their medical histories and physical conditions.
  • Measure and record vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration rates.
  • Provide routine patient care.
  • Monitor patients' health status.
  • Review and maintain medical records.
  • Assist physicians and registered nurses in their duties.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families.
  • Perform standard diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, and venipuncture.
  • Administer medications (excluding IV medications).
  • Provide wound care and assist with patient comfort.
  • Monitor and manage catheters.
