Job Opportunity: Director of Geospatial Data Systems

This position is for the role of Director of Geospatial Data Systems within the DC Department of Human Resources.

Position Overview

The Director of Geospatial Data Systems will be responsible for the strategic oversight and administration of the Spatial Data Systems and GIS unit. This role entails providing leadership, guidance, and establishing objectives for a dedicated team of IT and GIS professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of IT and GIS professionals
  • Define goals, priorities, and strategic objectives for the division
  • Facilitate collaboration and workflow among team members
  • Conduct technical evaluations and implement organizational enhancements
  • Develop and uphold GIS policies and standards
  • Engage with external stakeholders on GIS initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a degree in a relevant discipline along with experience in Information Technology. Specialized expertise in GIS is highly desirable.

Certifications

Certifications such as PMP, PMI, or ITIL are advantageous. A valid driver's license is necessary.

Work Environment

The role primarily involves office-based work with minimal physical demands.
