Tax Compliance Specialist

The Tax Investigator is a key role in the Department of Finance and Administration, responsible for conducting tax investigations and collecting delinquent taxes. This position requires a strong understanding of state tax laws and regulations, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate complaints from the public regarding non-compliance of Arkansas tax laws and write reports documenting the outcome of the investigation.
- Assist taxpayers by interpreting tax laws and regulations, explaining taxpayer responsibilities, and computing penalties and interest as needed.
- Collect delinquent taxes, penalties, and interest due, and assist in the resolution of delinquent taxes.
- Serve legal documents to taxpayers who fail to comply with Arkansas tax laws.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus six credit hours of college-level accounting courses, or one year of experience in bookkeeping, tax preparation, tax auditing, or a related field.
