Job Summary

The Tax Supervisor is a key member of the CommonSpirit tax team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of federal, state, and local tax returns. This role requires a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct detailed reviews of tax returns to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and CommonSpirit policies and procedures.
* Serve as a primary contact for tax issues raised by tax analysts and senior tax analysts, working to identify complex tax issues and assist tax managers and directors in resolving them.
* Supervise tax staff, including hiring, training, and mentoring, to ensure the team is equipped to meet tax return preparation deadlines.
* Collaborate with tax managers and directors to develop tax policy for CommonSpirit and its market-based organizations.
* Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations, adapting the tax review process to ensure compliance.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in accounting required, master's degree preferred.
* CPA or attorney preferred.
* Minimum of four years of experience in tax preparation and tax research required.
* Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
