About the Role

Pacific Shipyards International is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maritime Engineer Intern to join our team in Honolulu.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual with a strong foundation in engineering principles to assist in the engineering function of our maritime repair and conversion company. As a Maritime Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist project management team with support for construction and repair projects
  • Gain experience and learn about the work as a project engineer in the local maritime industry
  • Perform various tasks assigned by management, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
  • Communicate regularly with managers and supervisors about divisional and departmental issues
  • Maintain assigned work areas in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Ensure the safety of all assigned equipment and perform duties in conformance to appropriate safety standards

Requirements:

  • Current student in an engineering field or recent graduate of an engineering program
  • Strong understanding of general knowledge obtained through undergraduate studies in engineering
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Flexible work hours, shifts, and days
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team

Education/Training:

  • Actively enrolled in an engineering program at an accredited university or college
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Rhino3d, AutoCAD or other
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This salary estimate is based on the location of Honolulu and the typical compensation range for a maritime engineer in this region.
