Overview:
The Market Analysis Specialist role is integral to the Market Fundamentals team at Energy Transfer Equity.

This position involves analyzing market supply and demand dynamics for Natural Gas, NGLs, and Crude, enabling the extraction of valuable insights and identification of market trends.

As a key member of the Market Fundamentals Team, the Market Analysis Specialist will merge fundamental energy market data with financial metrics at the asset level to uncover insights and trends.

The Specialist will be tasked with the analysis and design of energy commodity models.

Success in this role requires the ability to identify and extrapolate trends while understanding the interdependencies within the supply chain.

The Market Analysis Specialist should possess a robust understanding of crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas markets, with a knack for connecting commodity markets to financial performance at the asset level.

They will be a natural problem solver, approaching data and insights with a deep curiosity to delve beyond market assumptions to address client needs.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate confidence in decision-making and possess the ability to exercise sound judgment regarding the depth of analysis required.


Key Responsibilities:


Conduct comprehensive market fundamental research and data analysis for Crude, Natural Gas, NGL, Refined Products, and Power markets on both domestic and international fronts.

Develop and maintain intricate fundamental commodity supply and demand models for various markets.
Enhance and expand analytical tools and processes while keeping abreast of market research and insights.
Model commodity data for targeted markets and provide ad hoc analysis based on immediate market developments.
Assess and enhance data quality.

Generate commodity and financial models, insights, and research reports for cross-functional teams on a regular and ad hoc basis.

Identify and manage new and existing publicly available data sets, collaborating with the Data Engineering Team to transform them into actionable reports while ensuring the quality of raw data and models.

Act as the primary contact and thought leader for all client inquiries regarding products and other areas of interest, leveraging internal team expertise to outline challenges, opportunities, and solutions.

Present insights and models to various levels of client stakeholders through multiple communication channels.
Develop and refine processes and documentation.
Oversee new initiatives and product development projects.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
To excel in this position, candidates must effectively fulfill each essential job duty.

Requirements include:
A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Technology, Programming, or Computer Science.

  • 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in constructing and refining models, forecasts, and handling raw data sets.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated analytical capabilities and proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, Databases, and BI tools (Power BI/Tableau); experience with Python/R is advantageous.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, along with familiarity with other Microsoft products like Word and Outlook.
Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and time management skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines.

A self-motivated, inquisitive, and enthusiastic problem-solver capable of working independently while maintaining a high level of accountability.

Proven analytical skills with the capacity to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate substantial amounts of information with precision and attention to detail.

Interest in energy commodity and financial markets.
Comprehensive knowledge of the midstream supply chain.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a dynamic team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in crude, NGL, or natural gas analysis is highly desirable.
Required experience aligns with the selected job level:
The Specialist/Analyst level necessitates a Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of relevant experience.
The Lead Specialist/Analyst level necessitates a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.

Work Environment:
Typically, this role is performed in standard office conditions.

Candidates must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.

There may be visits to industrial or manufacturing settings, which could involve exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, necessitating appropriate personal protective equipment.
