Position Overview

The Agronomy Field Consultant (AFC) plays a vital role in supporting agricultural producers. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage various responsibilities and serve as a dependable resource for both clients and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

The AFC will:

  • Lead direct sales initiatives and collaborate with team members to provide expert advice on seed and agronomy.
  • Deliver technical agronomic assistance and education, ensuring familiarity with all seed brands offered by the company and its competitors.
  • Be knowledgeable in seed treatments and advanced agricultural technologies.
  • Support the retail sales team with additional inputs or value-added agronomy as needed.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be willing to assist teammates with operational tasks when required.
Reporting Structure

This role reports to the Plant Manager and collaborates closely with colleagues across various locations and the Technical Agronomy team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A four-year degree in Agronomy or Agricultural Science, or a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Certification as a Crop Advisor is preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in computer and software applications.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record; a CDL is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • The ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Responsibilities

The AFC will work with a designated number of key accounts to:

  • Enhance crop yields and implement practices that improve return on investment (ROI).
  • Lead seed sales efforts and assist in seed selection and placement across various brands.
  • Engage in prospecting activities for assigned accounts.
  • Represent the company and explore ways to assist farmers in increasing their ROI.
  • Gather and organize customer data from monitoring systems and provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Agronomy Team to design and execute on-farm trials for seed, fertilizers, crop protection, and innovative agricultural technologies.
  • Create prescriptions, reports, and detailed crop plans in conjunction with other team members.
  • Act as a timely point of contact for in-field diagnostics and troubleshooting during the growing season.
  • Assist with seed ordering, invoicing, sorting, and ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Work with seed partners to formulate business plans focused on retention and growth.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience.

Resources provided include a pickup truck, cell phone, iPad, laptop, and necessary field equipment to complete customer projects.
