Position: Senior Project Manager

Role Summary:

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all project management activities related to the design and construction of various initiatives, including local bond measures and modernization projects. This role involves collaboration with the College Project Management team and the Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address and resolve complex issues and disputes related to construction projects.
  • Implement and adhere to the established Quality Management System for the program.
  • Collaborate with the PMO on all project-related matters.
  • Review and develop contract documents in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and formulate effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Accurately document and report all project data in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate project updates and data to various stakeholder groups.
  • Manage and execute multiple design and construction projects simultaneously, with values ranging from $2M to $60M each.
  • Coordinate budget and schedule information with the Relocation Project Manager.
  • Lead the planning and design phases of projects, engaging all stakeholders including user groups and facilities staff.
  • Ensure successful project closeout, including compliance with DSA and PMO requirements.
  • Evaluate and manage change orders and professional service requests promptly.
  • Track project status and provide management reports related to overall program delivery schedules.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess construction team performance and compliance with legal standards.
  • Facilitate outreach efforts to communicate information about ongoing projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing multiple design and construction projects within a large capital improvement program.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a related field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in Educational Facility Construction.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, and closeout.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build.
  • Proficiency in web-based project management systems like Proliance.
  • Experience with LEED certified projects and/or Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
  • Knowledge of Formal Construction Partnering.
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) processes.
  • Possession of a valid Architect Registration or Professional Engineer license in California.
  • Certification as a Construction Manager (CCM) by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).
