Position Overview

The STEM Education Programming Intern will acquire invaluable professional experience in educational initiatives and event planning while working closely with the Girl Scouts of Orange County (GSOC) Girl Experience team. The intern's responsibilities will encompass program evaluation and creation, event assistance, and various administrative tasks to enhance understanding of programming, events, and the non-profit sector.

This role will also involve administrative responsibilities and additional projects that align with academic learning and the objectives of GSOC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the launch of a new Makerspace, which includes providing event assistance and programming. This involves developing educational programs for new tools and activities, supporting "Maker Nights" events, and fulfilling other administrative requirements for the Makerspace.
  • Provide support for First Lego League Robotics Teams through administrative tasks, team registrations, familiarization with the program, and coordination of the Mock Tournament.
  • Engage with a team of volunteers committed to advancing STEM by attending their meetings, offering event support, and managing activities on the day of events.
  • Contribute to the creation of new STEM programs and events through administrative tasks and organizational efforts.
  • Perform additional duties that align with the academic objectives of your internship program.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Education, Child Development, or a STEM-related field, with a strong desire to work with students.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Organized with effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Must successfully complete background screening, including fingerprinting.
  • Willingness to embrace the values and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and recognize the significant benefits of Girl Scouting.
