Position: Food & Beverage Specialist


ROLE SUMMARY: The primary function of the Food & Beverage Specialist is to guide and support service staff by actively engaging with them to uphold the standards of Cliffs Club Services, LLC. This role also encompasses responsibilities related to the opening and closing operations of the establishment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement training schedules for new hires in accordance with the Cliffs Club Training Plan.
  • Facilitate ongoing training sessions for service personnel focusing on the sequence of service.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to servers regarding their daily tasks.
  • Engage directly with staff to ensure adherence to established procedures.
  • Process food and beverage orders from patrons and input them into the point-of-sale system.
  • Clearly articulate menu items, specials, beverages, and wines to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with bartenders to prepare drink orders efficiently.
  • Assist in the setup of dining room stations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Accommodate special requests from guests as feasible.
  • Promote menu items and specials to optimize food and beverage sales.
  • Assist in scheduling service staff and organizing room setups based on expected reservations and events.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, accident, and emergency protocols.
  • Conduct inspections of the dining area to confirm cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Oversee the appearance and maintenance of dining spaces, equipment, and fixtures, reporting any issues as necessary.
  • Monitor service staff to ensure adherence to uniform standards.
  • Verify that all side work is completed and cleaning schedules are followed.
  • Enforce established policies and procedures.
  • Close out the point-of-sale system at the end of the day, including cash and credit transactions.
  • Secure dining and club areas at the conclusion of business hours.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests promptly and courteously, adhering to service standards.
  • Manage pre-and post-shift tasks, including stocking service stations and preparing beverages.
  • Handle customer payments efficiently, ensuring prompt return of change.
  • Assist with greeting and seating guests as needed.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of menu items and daily specials.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding food, beverages, and restaurant services.
  • Monitor guests' dining experiences, ensuring satisfaction and addressing requests promptly.
  • Clear used tableware between courses and prepare for subsequent courses.
  • Support food runners during busy periods, especially with large groups.
  • Maintain table cleanliness throughout the dining experience.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs to the F&B Supervisor.
  • Assist in inventory management and supply replenishment.
  • Participate in all relevant educational meetings and training sessions.
  • Contribute to the training and implementation of new menu items.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some high school education is required.
  • Experience in motivating and training staff in food and beverage service standards.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary; experience with point-of-sale systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with both members and colleagues.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to serve alcohol.
  • A minimum of 3 years of prior serving experience in a reputable club, hotel, or restaurant, with at least one year in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and a passion for the hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of fine wines and culinary offerings is advantageous.
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Proven knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling standards.
  • Familiarity with computer systems is essential.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
