Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of our laboratory section, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and adherence to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the daily operations of the laboratory section, including staff supervision, quality control, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and laboratory operations.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
- Perform complex laboratory tests and procedures, including quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Develop and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and education to laboratory staff on new procedures, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in laboratory and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives and committees.
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Three years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist or comparable role.
- One of the following required certifications: Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or categorical certification by Board of Certification (ASCP), Certified as a Medical Technologist by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or HLA only - One of the following is required: Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP) certification, Certified by American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI), or Microbiology only - One of the following is required: Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP) certification, Clinical microbiology registry from American Society for Microbiology, RM(AAM).
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience in laboratory management, quality improvement, or education.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
