Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team at the Department of Toxic Substances Control. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will play a critical role in protecting public health and the environment by working on site cleanups, maintaining open communication with stakeholders, and preparing estimates of DTSC oversight costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with DTSC staff, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to ensure expeditious site cleanups that are protective of human health and the environment.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with responsible parties, project proponents, and consultants regarding project schedules and issues that may impact project schedules.
  • Prepare and provide responsible parties and project proponents with annual estimates of DTSC oversight costs.
Requirements
  • Professional licensure or advanced degree preferred.
  • Relevant experience in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Spreadsheets, databases, and data management.
  • Knowledge/experience with environmental site characterization and cleanup strategies.
  • Experience with soil, soil vapor, and groundwater treatment technologies.
  • Experience with construction/field oversight.
  • Team leadership and project management skills.
  • Technical report writing experience.
