Histology Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at Houston Methodist. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including histological techniques and related instrument maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures in the assigned work area.
- Recognize and ensure critical values with appropriate Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) documentation.
- Organize workload and set priorities, utilizing all available work time by assisting others and performing additional tasks.
- Analyze quality control data, make judgments concerning the results, and thoroughly document any corrective action taken.
- Process specimens and demonstrate knowledge of specimen requirements and laboratory rejection policies.
- Actively participate in and achieve an acceptable level of performance on proficiency and competency testing samples.
- Maintain a safe environment within the Laboratory, following all policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials, security, emergency preparedness, and HIPAA.
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
- No experience required; one year experience as a Histology Technician highly preferred.
- HT(ASCP) - Histotechnician (ASCP) within 1 year, or HTL(ASCP) - Histotechnologist (ASCP) within 1 year.
